All Things Considered - Dr Andrew Aziz, Executive Vice President of Risk Solutions at Algorithmics, was interviewed by Adam Davidson for this programme on why risk models didn't predict the credit crisis. He is quoted comparing the risk management software to a GPS device used in a car: "It's helpful as a guide, but the driver still needs to look out the window." He says that "some banks with a better understanding of the vulnerabilities of the methodologies planned correctly, and they are doing well now. Other banks just never looked out the window. And they crashed."
